Kynance has been on our to-do list for years, and last Saturday, we finally got there. We’d seen the pictures on Instagram of the gorgeous cove, and while the sun was shining we thought we’d make the trip. It’s always seemed proper Enid Blyton country – rocky steps, secret coves – we just need a mysterious flashing light from a cave to set it off…
Kynance is National Trust land, so if you’re a member you can park for free. The car park is at the top of the hill, and there’s a fairly steep rocky path down to the cove, and it’s worth every step. Kynance is every bit as beautiful as it looks in the photos. The tide was coming in when we visited, which meant we didn’t get to see that glorious sandy beach or explore along the shoreline, but we did get to see a lazy seal just bobbing along looking back at us. There’s a lovely café at the cove which with its big white sun umbrellas feels like you could be in France, and you can hire a deckchair to enjoy the views too. We decided we’d definitely return, probably with a picnic, so we could make the most of the beach. It’s well worth the trip from Sennen.
