We’re so lucky to have the beautiful landscape of Mayon Cliff just moments from our front door. It’s looked after by the National Trust and the in the last few years they’ve refurbished the look-out, so there’s informational about the local area, what wildlife and sealife has spotted that week, and there’s a little shop inside too. It’s a good stop for a doggie drink, if you’re walking the South West Coastal Path. You might even see Flip-Flop the spaniel in residence.
On Sunday 1st September, the Newly Art School, in conjunction with the National Trust, is attempting to set a world record there, by gathering together the largest group of landscape painters to paint in one spot, at one time. They hope to form a chain of artist from Land’s End to Mayon Cliff, at 11.00am, painting the landscape. You don’t have to be a brilliant painter, and all ages abilities are welcome. You need to register to take part through the National Trust South West, and it costs just £2, which covers the canvas you’ll be given. You need to bring your own paints. We’ll be there, with a big flask of coffee!
